Follow the following steps to Turn On the Automatic Updates.
1. Click on Start and then choose Control Panel.
2. Depending on which Control Panel view you use, Classic or Category, do one of the following:
o Click System, and then click the Automatic Updates tab.
o Click Performance and Maintenance, click System, and then click the Automatic Updates tab.
3. After that, click the option that you want. Make sure Automatic Updates is not turned off.

Type 1: Use the "Add or Remove Programs" item in Control Panel to remove the Windows XP SP3
1. Go to Start and then choose Run.
2. Copy and then paste the following command in the Open box, and then press Enter key.
appwiz.cpl

3. Now, you have to click to select the Show Updates check box.
4. Then click Windows XP Service Pack 3 and then click Remove.
5. At last, click Finish to restart the computer after the removal process is complete.
Type 2: Use the hidden $NtServicePackUninstall$ folder
1. Go to Start and then choose Run.
2. Copy and then paste the following command in the Open box, and then press Enter key.
c:\windows\$NtServicePackUninstall$\spuninst\spuninst.exe in the Open box

3. Then click OK.
4. If the Windows XP Service Pack 3 Removal Wizard starts, click on Next.
5. After that, follow the onscreen instructions on the screen to remove Windows XP SP3.
Type 3: Use the System Restore process
Important Note:
You should restart the system at lease once, before you are going to perform System Restore Process.
1. Go to Start and then choose Run.
2. Copy and then paste the following command in the Open box, and then press Enter key.
%systemroot%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe

3. Thereafter, click “Restore my computer to an earlier time” and then click on Next.
4. Here you can click the date on which you installed Windows XP SP3.
5. Then click on “Installed Window XP Service Pack 3” in the Restore Point box.
6. Once you finish the above step, click Next, and then follow the onscreen instructions to remove Windows XP SP3.
Type 4: Use Recovery Console
Important Note:
If you modify the registry incorrectly, some serious problems might occur and these issues might require reinstalling the Operating System. Therefore, ensure that you follow the steps carefully. If you cannot remove Windows XP SP3 by using one of the previous methods, follow these steps:
This is the last step to remove the Windows XP Service Pack 3. You can use it if not all the above steps are able to remove the Windows XP SP3 from a Computer.
1. If you receive “Press any key to boot from CD” error message, press a key to start your Computer from the Windows XP CD.
Important Note:
The Computer that is going to be restored should be configured to start from the CD Drive or from the DVD Drive. If you want to have more information to configure the Computer to start from the CD Drive or from the DVD Drive, refer the documentation that was included with your Computer or contact the Computer manufacturer. At the same time, you can use a bootable floppy disk to start Windows XP.
2. You should press “R” when you receive the Welcome to Setup message in order to start the Recovery Console. There will be multiple options will appear on the screen.
3. There you should select the correct Windows XP installation. The main thing you have to remember is, you must select a number before you press Enter or the Computer restarts. Typically, 1: C:\Windows selection will only available there.
4. Now, if you are prompted to enter the administrator password, enter it otherwise press Enter to leave the password blank.

5. In the command prompt, type cd
$ntservicepackuninstall$\spuninst

and then press ENTER.
6. Then in the command prompt, type batch spuninst.txt and then press ENTER. Then the Spuninstal.txt file will be appeared. As the file scrolls down, you will see errors and the files that are being copied. This is typical behavior.
7. When you remove the Windows XP SP3, type exit, and then press ENTER.
8. Restart the computer in safe mode to take effect.
9. You can do this by pressing F8 when the computer restarts.
10. After restarting the Computer, it may stop responding and you can see a black screen and the mouse will work. In this case, you can restart the Computer again by turning the Computer OFF and then back on. Now you can log on, after second restart.
11. Moreover, the Windows Explorer will also stop responding after you restart the Computer. In addition, the Windows Icons and the Start Menu will also be hidden. You can follow the following steps to resolve this issue.

a. You should press Ctrl+Alt+Del keys simultaneously and then click Task Manager in the Windows Security screen.
b. Go to File and then click New Task (Run).
c. After that, in the Open box, type “regedit” and then click OK.
d. Then navigate to the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\RpcSs

e. After navigating, in the details pane, right-click ObjectName, click Modify.
f. Then type LocalSystem in the Value data box, and then click OK.
g. Now, again Restart the computer
h. That is it. All your issues are resolved using any of the above steps.
