How to enable Remote Desktop connection in Windows 7 for a HostComputer and a Client Computer

You may know the features and importance of a Remote Desktop Connection. That feature lets you connect a client Computer to a remote or Host Computer in a different location. Therefore, you can feel as you’re accessing your own Computer. Using this feature, you can access Programs, Files and Network Resources on the remotely accessed Computer. If you want to setup a new Remote Desktop Connection feature just follow the following steps. Here, we have given two procedures for you. First step is for performing the steps on the Client Computer and the second one is to connect to the Host.
Important Notes 1:
• Please ensure that you’re having proper networking setup.
• You should configure the user account with the password with which you’re going to configure the remote connection.
• Remember, you can’t establish the remote connection with a host Compute that is turned OFF or in Standby, Hibernate or in Sleep Mode.
Set up the remote computer to allow a connection.
How to allow a Computer to setup a remote connection
1. First, click on the Start Button and then select Control Panel.
2. Then, in the Control Panel Windows, choose System And Security.
3. Now, choose System.
4. Thereafter, in the left side pane click on Remote Settings.
5. If you’re prompted for the password or a User Account Control prompt is displayed, you have to enter the appropriate password or click Yes.
6. Then, in the System Properties Window, on the Remote tab in the Remote Desktop section, you have to click on the select the desired connection setting and then click Select Users.

7. Consider, if you’re using an account with the Administrator privileges, then the account will be automatically added to Remote Users’ list.
• Then, in the Remote Desktop User Window, you have click on the Add Button.
• Then, in the Select Users Window, in the Enter the object names to select text box, you have to type the name of the User Account that you would like to give access to the Computer for a remote connection.
• Then click on the OK button.

Important Notes 2:
• If you are using an advanced network configuration, contact your network administrator for assistance in configuring the user account.
• The user account will be the local to the Host Computer, in most of the situations.
• If you see any Name Not Found window, you should verify if the User Account Name is entered correctly.
• Then click on the OK button.
8. Then, in the Remote Desktop Users window, you have to click the OK Button.
9. Thereafter, click the OK button from the System Properties Window.

How to connect to the remote computer.
1. First, click the Start Button and then choose All Programs.
2. Now, click the Accessories Folder from the All Programs Menu.
3. Then, click Remote Desktop Connection from Accessories folder.
4. After choosing Remote Desktop, type the name and path of the Host Computer to which you want to connect the Computer.
5. In the Accessories folder, click Remote Desktop Connection .
Remember, if you are trying to connect to a computer on another network or over the Internet you must enter the full path to the host computer. For example, //testnetwork/computer or .

• Now, you have to click the Connect button.
• Then, in the Windows Security Window, you have to enter the Name and Password of the account on the Host Computer to which you want to connect.
Important Notes 3:
• You can select Use Another Account, if you want to connect using a user account other than the one listed.
• Remember, if a different user is logged on to the Host Computer, the connection will not be allowed.
• Moreover, once the connection is established and if a user logs on to the Host Computer, the Connection will be terminated.

• Now, click on the OK button.
• Now, you can see a Remote Desktop Connection window that mirrors the Desktop on the Host Computer.
• Inside this Window, you can access the Host Computer as you like.
• Just close the Remote Desktop Connection Window, if you want to terminate the Connection.
