Why does Microsoft remove the AutoRun feature in Windows 7

As you know, AutoRun is the mechanism that performs a default action whenever you insert an Optical Disc in the Drive. For example, if you’ve inserted a CD and the contents of the file called AutoRun is responsible for suggesting the action Run index.html. On the other hand, the rising incidence of Malware that uses AutoRun to induce innocent users into running the Trojan Horses. Therefore, the developers of Windows 7 have disabled the AutoRun feature on USB Devices other than removable optical media.
Due to this security change, some of the devices that executed programs in Windows Vista will not appear in windows 7 as soon as you plug them. Therefore, it is recommended not to conclude that the device is broken, if the device doesn’t run automatically.
You can open the Windows Explorer of the Computer and then open the connected Device. There you can find a file called AutoRun. You can open the file in Notepad to know the name of the program and check if the AutoRun feature has not been disabled for the device. You can run that program from the Windows Explorer.
