How to enable remote management in Windows Server 2008 R2

We know you might have come across Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2008 RTM. You’ll be still struggling to find a better one between two. As of our knowledge, Windows Server 2008 R2 has come out with an advanced feature that lets you remotely manage it from another Server or from a Windows 7 workstation, just by using Server Manager. You can say, Windows Server 2008 RTM also has remote management capabilities. You can easily manage these servers by using almost any MMC Snap-in.
This is more useful when you use both regular-type installations and Server Core installations. The following are the scenarios that can be done by using Server Manager to manage Windows Server 2008 R2 servers remotely.
Server to server - You can use the Server Manager on a full installation of Windows Server 2008 R2 to manage roles and features that are installed on another server that has Windows Server 2008 R2.
Server to Server Core - The Server Manager can be used on a full installation of Windows Server 2008 R2 in order to manage roles and features that are installed in Server Core installation of Windows Server 2008 R2.
Client to server - The Server Manager is installed as a part of Remote Server Administration Tools on a Computer that has Windows 7. You can use this to manage roles and features on a Computer that is either a full or Server Core installations of Windows Server 2008 R2. If you want to install Server Manager on a Windows 7 machine, it is required to install the Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT).

The tasks that you can perform remotely by using Server Manager include:
Following are the tasks that can be performed by using the Server Manager:
•    It is easy to view Windows automatic updating status
•    You can run the Best Practices Analyzer scans on roles.
•    Easy to view or change Windows Firewall information
•    You can view and manage roles
•    It is easy to manage installed services roles
•    You can view Internet Explorer Advanced Security Configuration settings (IE ESC)
•    Easy to configure Windows Error Reporting
•    You can easily view or change Windows Customer Experience Improvement Program (CEIP) status
The following are the tasks that can’t be performed remotely by using Server Manager:
•    Change network settings
•    Add or remove roles, role services, and features
•    Change the computer name or domain membership
•    Check for new roles
•    Run the Security Configuration Wizard, if the source computer is a server that is running Windows Server 2008 R2
•    Configure Remote Desktop settings
•    Configure System Properties
•    Change Windows automatic updating settings
•    Change Internet Explorer Advanced Security Configuration settings
Now, let’s discuss about enabling remote management.
Consider that the Remote Server is all set up and prepared to enter production. Now, you have to open Server Manager on the Remote Server.
Then, click on the “Configure Server Manager for Remote Management” link.
After that, select "Enable remote management of this server from other computers" and then click on OK.

In order to allow the relevant traffic in, the Server’s Firewall will be automatically configured. Now, let’s check out about connecting to the Remote Server.
You have to open the Server Manager on the Computer that you want to be used as the management machine. The machine should have either Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows & RSAT.
Now, right click on the Server Manager item and then select “Connect to Another Computer”.

Then, you have to type the name or browse to the Server you wish to connect to in the “Connect to Another Computer” window.

If you want to keep the remote connection and not have to re-configure the remote server name each time, you have to open a new MMC windows, add the Server Manager snap-in.
Then, connect to the Remote Server and then save the snap-in. This is fair enough to keep the remote session intact.

New Micro battery, power packed for high performance

For a size of a few millimetres, the new micro-batteries are powerful enough to jump start a car battery and then quickly charge the cell phone. Researchers from the University of Illinois have developed the micro batteries which can be used to drive compact electronic devices and new applications for radio communications. The micro batteries are so good that they can even out power the super capacitors. The results were published in ‘Nature Communications’ in the April 16 issue. The micro batteries have energy and power and with the researchers tweaking the structure of the micro batteries a little bit, its use can be for wide range applications. The high performance of the micro battery is based on its 3-dimensional micro-structure. Based on the design of fast charging cathode by Professor Paul Braun’s group, researchers developed the matching anode and integrated it with the fast charging cathode at a micro-scale and made a complete battery with high performance. These batteries cou
