How To Start Reporting Services Configuration

In this article, we’re going to discuss about configuring a Reporting Services installation. In order to do this, you have to use the Reporting Services Configuration manager. Therefore, using this, you can configure a local or remote report server instance as long as you’re a member of the local Administrator group on the report server Computer. Before you can connect to and configure a remote report server instance, it is required to enable the remote Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) calls to pass through Windows Firewall. The main thing you’ve to remember about the Reporting Services Configuration Manager is that it is version specific. The Reporting Services Configuration tool that installs with this version of SQL Server cannot be used to configure an earlier version of Reporting Services. At the same time, if you’ve older and newer version of Reporting Services side-by-side on the same Computer, you should use the Reporting Service Configuration tool that comes with each version to configure each instance.

How to start Reporting Services Configuration

1.    First, click on the Start Menu, select All Programs and then select Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2.
2.    Now, open the Configuration Tools option.
3.    If you want to configure a report server instance from a previous version of SQL Server, you have to open the program folder for that version. For example, point to Microsoft SQL Server 2005 instead of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 to open the configuration tools for SQL Server 2005 server components.
4.    Then, you have to select Reporting Services Configuration Manager. The Connect to a Report Server Instance dialog box appears.

7.    There you can view the name of the local Computer appears by default, but you may type the name of the Remote SQL Server instance if you want to connect to a report server that is installed on a remote Computer.
8.    If you specify a remote Computer, you should click Find to establish a connection
9.    In Report Server Instance, select the SQL Server Reporting Services instance that you want to configure. Only report server instances for this version of SQL Server appear in the list. You cannot configure earlier versions of Reporting Services.
10.    Now, in the Report Server Instance, select the SQL Server Reporting Services instance that you want to configure.
11.    In the list, you can find only the report server instances for the version of SQL Server.
12.    Therefore, you can’t configure earlier versions of Reporting Services.
13.    Now, click Connect.
14.    That’s it.
15.    Now, all it is done. You have successfully started the Reporting Services Configuration.

New Micro battery, power packed for high performance

For a size of a few millimetres, the new micro-batteries are powerful enough to jump start a car battery and then quickly charge the cell phone. Researchers from the University of Illinois have developed the micro batteries which can be used to drive compact electronic devices and new applications for radio communications. The micro batteries are so good that they can even out power the super capacitors. The results were published in ‘Nature Communications’ in the April 16 issue. The micro batteries have energy and power and with the researchers tweaking the structure of the micro batteries a little bit, its use can be for wide range applications. The high performance of the micro battery is based on its 3-dimensional micro-structure. Based on the design of fast charging cathode by Professor Paul Braun’s group, researchers developed the matching anode and integrated it with the fast charging cathode at a micro-scale and made a complete battery with high performance. These batteries cou
