How to view and add an Exchange Forest using the EMC

The first half of the article is about viewing properties of a forest in Exchange Server 2010 using the Exchange Management Console (EMC). Therefore, you have to read the second half of the article to know about adding an Exchange Forest using the EMC. It is like the grand final between Spain and the Netherlands. It is sure the second half of the article will also will helpful for you.
Now, let’s discuss about using the EMC to view the properties of an Exchange forest.
In order to perform this procedure, you have to be assigned permissions. You can refer to the “Role groups” entry in the Role Management Permissions topic.
1.    First, right click on the Remote Forest in the Console Tree.
2.    Now, select the forest in which you’re interested and then select the Properties option.
3.    Now, you can view the following information about the forest from the General tab.
o    Administrator identity   The identity of the administrator of the source forest. For example, Contoso\Adminstrator.
o    Remote PowerShell URL   The URL for the source forest's remote PowerShell connection. For example, https://server1.contoso.com/PowerShell/.


That’s it. We have successfully viewed the Exchange Forest.
Now, let’s discuss about adding an Exchange Forest by using the EMC.
In order to perform this procedure, you have to be assigned permissions. You can refer to the “Role groups” entry in the Role Management Permissions topic. (I’ve just copied and pasted this statement from the first half).
1.    First, click the Microsoft Exchange Node from the Console Tree. It is the top-most node in the tree.
2.    Now, click Add Exchange Forest in the action pane.
3.    After that, you have to complete the following fields in the Add Exchange Forest dialog box.
o    Specify a friendly name for this Exchange forest   Type the name of the Exchange forest. This name will display in the console tree.
o    Specify the Remote PowerShell instance to connect to   Type the URL for the source forest's remote PowerShell connection. For example, https://server1.contoso.com/PowerShell/.
o    Logon with default credential   If you select this check box, the default logged-on administrator password is used.

That’s it. We’ve successfully reviewed about viewing and adding an Exchange Forest using the Exchange Management Console (EMC).
