Tips: How to use and disable Microsoft Office 2010 Upload Center

The latest Microsoft Office 2010 Upload Center brings you a way to see the state of files you’re uploading to a server in one location. If you upload a file to a web server, Microsoft first saves that file locally to the Office Document Cache before starts the upload. Therefore, you can save changes and immediately continue working even when you’re offline or have a bad network connection. Moreover, the Microsoft Office Upload Center lets you keep tracking of how uploads are progressing and whether any files need your attention.
Now, let’s discuss about the scenarios in which this is helpful.
•    If you’ve a file opened from a server and the server goes offline, you can save this file. It will be uploaded when the server goes back online.
•    This will be more useful to work in an airport hotspot. If you’re about to board your flight, you can check the status in the Upload Center. Therefore, you will be able to know when the upload has completed.
•    If any error occurs during the upload process, you will be intimated immediately. Therefore, you can easily fix the problem and resume the upload quickly.

Now, let’s discuss about finding and opening the Upload Center.
This Upload Center will be automatically installed if you install the Microsoft Office 2010 application. You can launch it in two ways.
•    You can open the Upload Center using the notification icon.
•    Then, click Open Upload Center.
•    Second way is opening from the start menu.
•    Click on the start button, select All programs and then select Microsoft Office or Microsoft Office Starter.
•    Now, select Microsoft Office 2010 Tools.
•    After that, select Microsoft Office 2010 Upload Center.

If you wish you can select the file that you wish to work with and access file actions through the Actions menu in the toolbar and the context menu. The available options will be changed depending on the state of the file.
•    Open    Opens the file so that you can view or edit it directly from the Upload Center.
•    Save As    Saves a copy of the file to your computer.

•    Choose When an upload has failed because another author has changed the server version of the file causing a conflict, this action opens a window where you can view and select which version to keep. To learn more about this, see Resolve conflicts in the Upload Center.
•    Open Web Site    Opens the web site where the file is saved.
•    Sign In    When an upload has failed because you are not signed into the web server this action lets you sign to the resolve upload failure.

•    Discard    Removes the file from the Upload Center. If this file is on the server it will still be available for download.
•    Open to Resolve    When an upload has failed you can open the authoring application which will automatically display more information about the issue and actions to resolve it. This action is often the default action to resolve upload failures.
•    Save a Copy    This action resolves an upload failure by saving your changes to another location.
•    Upload    This action tries to upload your pending changes to the server.
•    You can disable the Microsoft Office Upload Center icon from the notification area. All it is required to do is unchecking the display icon area of the Microsoft Office Upload Center.

New Micro battery, power packed for high performance

For a size of a few millimetres, the new micro-batteries are powerful enough to jump start a car battery and then quickly charge the cell phone. Researchers from the University of Illinois have developed the micro batteries which can be used to drive compact electronic devices and new applications for radio communications. The micro batteries are so good that they can even out power the super capacitors. The results were published in ‘Nature Communications’ in the April 16 issue. The micro batteries have energy and power and with the researchers tweaking the structure of the micro batteries a little bit, its use can be for wide range applications.

The high performance of the micro battery is based on its 3-dimensional micro-structure. Based on the design of fast charging cathode by Professor Paul Braun’s group, researchers developed the matching anode and integrated it with the fast charging cathode at a micro-scale and made a complete battery with high performance. These batteries cou…
