Windows: How to setup home group and share a printer in Windows 7

If you’re looking to share the files on your network, saving them in the Public folder will be the easiest and the best option. If you save any file or folder in the public folder, it will be automatically shared with the people connected to your network. Now, let’s discuss about turning the public folder sharing ON.
•    First, open the “Network and Sharing Center” from the start button and control panel.
•    Now, it is required to click the down arrow button next to Public folder sharing and select any of the following options:

1.    Turn on sharing so anyone with network access can open files
2.    Turn on sharing so anyone with network access can open, change, and create files
3.    Turn off sharing (people logged on to this computer can still access this folder)



•    Then, click Apply.
•    Now, it is required to perform the same steps on each computer that you want to share files from.
•    If you wish to share your files, you can save them or copy them to the Public folder on your computer. You can view one Public folder on each computer. Every person with a user account on the computer can share this folder.
•    Now, follow the steps to open the Public folder.
•    It is required to open “Documents” by clicking the on the start button and selecting documents.
•    Now, in the navigation pane, it is required to click Public under the Favorite links.
Now, let’s discuss about sharing a printer.
•    If you’ve already connected the printer to one of your computers, you can print it from any computer connected to your wireless network.
•    Log on to the computer that has the printer connected to it.
•    Now, open Network and Sharing Center as mentioned above.
•    Then, it is required to click the arrow button next to Printer sharing, click Turn ON printer sharing and then click on Apply.
•    After that, it is required to click the arrow button next to Password protected sharing and click Turn OFF password protected sharing.
•    Now, click Apply.
If you’ve the password-protected sharing feature turned ON, people will need a user account with a password on your computer to access your printer.
Now, let’s discuss about accessing the printer from any computer on the network.
•    Open Network by clicking on the start button.
•    Now, double click the icon for the computer that has the printer connected to it.
•    After that, it is required to double click the icon for the printer.
•    Now, Windows will automatically add the printer to your computer and install the printer driver.
